What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is the insertion of fine needles along meridians of the body in order to treat specific health problems. It is a system that has been in China for 3000 years. The needles act by rechanneling or unblocking Qi (pronounced “chee”, meaning the energy for all life) and often produce a tingling, cramping or electrical sensation when placed correctly. Needle placement and number of needles used vary according to symptoms each patient displays. The needles are individually packaged sterilized needles that are thrown away after the session.
In Chinese, the word for acupuncture literally means painless. Upon needle insertion, you may notice tingling, cramping or electrical sensations. This means the needles have been placed correctly in accordance with the particular treatment you require.
If for some reason you are afraid of needles, or otherwise cannot receive acupuncture, then many of your symptoms may also be corrected through the use of herbal formulas.
